WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU VISIT
Inclement Weather: The site is spread over one city block in Downtown Meridian and requires movement across the open-air Steam Alley. On occasion when severe thunderstorms are predicted or TORCONs (tornado predictions) are given for the area, the site will be closed for the safety of visitors and protection of the buildings. In the past, roofs, windows and interiors have been damaged as high winds entered through open or unsecured doors at the historic Soulé Steam Feed Works factory site. On the forecast of bad weather we close the museum for the safety of our visitors and preservation of the factory buildings.
What to wear: Dress for the weather. The building is not temperature controlled. Additionally, the ground and flooring are uneven—sensible shoes are a must. Sneakers or boots are recommended. Open-toed shoes and high heels are not recommended.
Restrooms & Food/Beverage: The antiquity of historic Soulé Steam Feed Works is certainly part of the authentic experience here. However, that limits the creature comforts many of us are accustomed to. Restrooms are only available at the main entrance. Food/Beverage amenities are generally not available on-site. Five local restaurants are located within walking distance of the museum in Downtown Meridian.
Photography: Photography for your personal use is permitted. For safety reasons, videography and drones are prohibited. Professional photo shoots must be approved in writing prior to the date of the event.
